Vista Clinical Diagnostics was opened in January of 2001 by the founders, Davian Santana, President and Nathan Hawkins, VP. Based on the ethics of a higher quality of healthcare at affordable prices with excellent service, the company has seen tremendous growth from the little laboratory in Minneola, Florida to the outstanding corporation it is today. Vista Clinical now has now expanded to more than 12 counties in Florida servicing over 200 nursing homes and assisted living facilities as well as continuing to open patient services centers as needed.
Clinical specimens are tested at the state-of-the-art, 35, 000 square foot facility in Clermont, as well as Vista STAT Lab facilities in Sebring and New Port Richey. The current Clinical Laboratory services offered now include Pathology and will soon include Imaging.
A focus on quality care, spa-like patient service centers, affordable prices (often 70% LESS than our competitors) and lightning fast service has led to unprecedented growth for Vista. However, it was not an easy road. This was a journey that took the 24 hour around the clock drive and the integrity of its’ two founders to achieve the goal, VISTA CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS.
The two founders, Davian and Nathan met in 1996 while working together as Medical Technologists at a hospital in Alabama. Davian had recently received an honorable discharge from the Navy and Nathan was still on active duty in the Air Force. They developed a friendship and trust which would prove to be their greatest asset in the future. After 3 years, Davian and Nathan went their separate ways to accept positions with Beckman Coulter in Orlando and Ortho Clinical Diagnostics in Pennsylvania, respectively. It was in this line of work, testing medical equipment, that Davian was given a first –hand look inside the majority of laboratory facilities in Florida. He began to notice the lack of personalized customer care compounded by high prices and long wait times. Simply put, the patient was not being put first. Most clinical laboratories talked about patient focused care, but never really did the hard work it takes to create that experience. Realizing the gap in the market, and a real opportunity to help people, Davian wanted to develop a company based on patient service. Nathan had just received a promotion and built a new home in the Northeast when he received the call from Davian to join him in Florida. He did not hesitate to respond. Shortly thereafter, Davian went north to help Nathan relocate to Central Florida and assisted him in obtaining an interim job with Beckman Coulter. The dream was birthed: VISTA CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS, Saving Lives, One Patient at a Time.
Leveraging their homes, assets and time, sometimes working a combined total of 200 hours per week between Beckman Coulter by day and building their lab by night, Vista Clinical Diagnostics was incorporated in July, 2003.
Although the laboratory opened in January 2004 after being licensed and accredited, it was the first step in an industry controlled by billion-dollar giants. Playing the role of David versus Goliath was not an easy one, as the top labs in the industry had a stronghold on most practices and out-reach facilities. Yet, Davian and Nathan knew that if they kept on the right path, pushing the principles the company was founded on, eventually the quality of service would turn the tide. The founders were passionate about upgrading every aspect of the company at every opportunity. Persistence and resolve allowed Vista to begin gaining ground and market share throughout Central Florida.
Vista moved to its current location in 2009, consistently investing in the very latest equipment and technology available. Today, close to 5,000 patients a day receive the care and dedication that is the Vista experience.
